Another Bad Encounter

I wonder when will it finally end. Again I met an incredibily rude person while at work. One point I’d like to emphasize is that, rude behaviour is really uncalled for, especially when it is unprovoked. Okay, obviously I would flare up if a service personnel was rude or behaving unprofessionally when serving me. That is for sure for all of us. However, there are some people out there who are inherently rude. It’s their nature, and perhaps upbringing. Perhaps they think people in the service industry are of a lesser being to them. Perhaps they hold important jobs and earn tons of money; and they think they are the king of the world, giving them a right to treat other people like dirt. I don’t know.

When I meet such people, I wonder what’s the use of education and what’s the use of values. It just doesn’t work with them. I get upset and unmotivated. I, sometimes regret choosing this path. I do not deserve such treatment. I get judged because of my job. But do these people know who I am on the inside? Do they know that I probably went to the same university as them and graduated like they did? Do they know that I am putting a 100% effort purely because I’m passionate about my job/duty? Do they know that I am trying my utmost best to provide the best service I can (despite the fact that I may be hindered by some restrictions beyond my control)? Do they know that I, too, am somebody’s daughter, somebody’s friend…? Do they know that I, too have bad days? No they do not know that. All they know is that they are one up above the rest and they can treat others like shit. This is not right. There is something very wrong with such mentality.

At first I was quite upset after this bad encounter. But on further thought, why should I get depressed over such characters? So I began sketching their behaviours on hotel note pads in my hotel room last night (these are actual events that happened..what is said to me and seen by me is exactly as portrayed). You may find these sketches ugly. Please, don’t expect me to make it pretty. The people who behaved as such ARE ugly. I’m merely trying to capture their expression as clearly as I can.

Hence, I created: ”The Rude People I Meet At Work - Hall of Fame” and will post my sketches in my next few posts.

I feel better now. Really.

Anyway, should you decide that you want to be rude or a total bitch/ass to another person without good reason (or just because you cannot get what you want or because you cannot be patient), think twice. For I could be there observing and you could be in my hall of fame.
